The good news first

I have more chips now than what i started the day with.....24k. Ugh. Picked up just enough blinds to stay alive. 520 players remained at the end of the day from 1450 or so at the start. I think the avg is like 95k. I'm short but still have fold equity! Pretty frustrating to never get action when i had a hand and to get re-raised when i open with 77.

The guy who i folded QQ to in the 4th level of the day promised me after play was done for the night that he had AA. I believed him. I think most people would have gone broke on the J high board in that spot.

The bad news is we don't play again til friday! Tomorrow is day 2b, then there is a day off for a media event or some crap. Boooo harrahs!

Anyway, i made it to day 3.

  1. Woo Hoo! Sounds like you are playing very disciplined poker. Way to stay focused. As long as you'r still in it, you've got a chance. Double ups get more and more frequent later on. Funny story about Jimmy Fricke's double up. People who stroll in late always seem to double up early. Seems like doing that instantly creates a loose image.

May I suggest a few things to do on your coupla' days off...pinball hall of fame, liberace museum, Jimmy Johns (a chicago institution) for the tastiest sandwiches, Lotus of Siam for a nice and delicious thai meal, and for a good read...Dead Poet book store or the incredible gambling collection at the UNLV library (everyone should go there at least once imho)

    Good Luck, Jake!

  2. Nice job, Chili. Way to hang tough. Day three is make or break. Keep us updated and WHEN you make day 4 or 5, I'll be there! Adios!

  3. Nice job Jake. Sounded for a while like you were getting a little frustrated on your disconnected flops. Keep your faith in your ability and it'll turn around for you. I'll be looking for your move on Day 3!

BTW, my SA Syn boy is working his stack now for his Day 2. Started with 82K and up to 125K currently. He reports that there are still some weak players in the field.
    Good Luck!
